Back of the box:

Kidnapped by an escaped convict (Shea Whigham) and his young
accomplice (Rachel Kerbs), Seth Belzer (Paulo Costanzo) and Polly Watt
(Jill Wagner) are thrust into the fight of their lives when the four of them
become the prey of a bloodthirsty splinter parasite. Trapped inside an
abandoned gas station, the foursome is forced to band together to thwart
the monster's vicious attacks and make it out alive.
The Bloody Truth:

Small budget done just right!

The Bloody Truth about Splinter is simple: A small budget, lack of location,
moderately experienced actors and minimal special effects are just what
this movie needed.  We find here a perfect case of a director working with
in his limits.  The story is neatly located between a road and a small gas
station set.  Camera work is elusive and expertly lets the mind fill in some
of the blanks.  Don’t let us take anything away from the effects because
when they do hit the screen they are terrifying and realistic.  Character
development is also given a fair amount of time and this adds meat to an
otherwise simple ‘single event’ horror flick.

A creepy and somewhat original ‘Siege Horror’ Splinter is far from epic or
Hollywood but it’s just about as much as most horror fans would or could
as for.  We are looking forward to what this team puts out next.
