Your Online Guide to Horror movies
Everybody loves Vampires.  The fanged fiends have been a staple of the silver screen for as long as
people have been stamping stories to celluloid.  From Nosferatu to Lestat de Lionourt - there is
nothing better than a good “sucky” movie.  Bottle your holy water, sharpen your stakes and join me
as I hunt down my top 8 Vamp flicks that encapsulate the art, the romance, the horror and the
silliness of the un-life and times of the vampire.
8) Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992)

A truly original movie that spawned, in this humble reviewer’s opinion, the best television show
of all time.  Joss Whedon created a bizarrely endearing heroine in Buffy.  She’s annoying, she’s
shallow and her stunt double kicks ass!  Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a ridiculous movie that is
loads of fun.  Admit it, you watched it and you laughed!

7) Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922)

Probably the straight up creepiest vampire in cinematic history.  Nosferatu is unique in that there
is absolute zero romance or sex appeal attached to the titular blood sucker.  If you need lots of
bells and whistles in your movies stick with Blade or Underworld, but if you can appreciate a true
classic then you can’t do better than Nosferatu for spooks and spine tingling heebie-jeebies.

6) Blade (1998)

“Daywalkers” “Suckheads” and “Naughty Vampire Gods” What more could you ask for?

5) Interview With The Vampire (1994)

Fans of Anne Rice should hate this movie.  It’s a watered down shadow of the novel with some of
the most bizarre and inappropriate casting choices I have ever seen.  However, when I silence
the snobby bookworm that lurks within I can absolutely appreciate the finer points of this film.
Never was a Vamp so tortured by his own misdeeds as poor whiney Louis de Pointe du Lac.

4) The Lost Boys (1987)

The tagline says it all: “Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a
vampire.”

3) Dracula (1931)

A year before Todd Browning made Freaks of us all he epitomized the blood sucking genre of
film with what is arguably the quintessential Vampire movie.  And let’s be honest, Tom Waits was
great in the remake as Renfield, but no one does crazy like Dwight Fry!

2) From dusk till dawn (1996)

Any movie that does a complete 180 half way through and suddenly throws vampires into the mix
is a good time.  Tarantino scores with this quirky cult classic.

1) Braham Stokers Dracula (1992)

Keanu Reeves aside (bless him, he tries so hard) I have nothing but complete love for Francis
Ford Coppola’s foray into the dark world of the famous Count.  Beautiful, haunting, sensual,
thought provoking, I can’t say enough wonderful things about this movie. Definitely my personal
favorite!

Think I missed something?  Think I’m full of it?  Have you seen a movie that puts this suck-fest to shame?
